Pinocchio

A three-meter Pinocchio in polished stainless steel, presented in Buenos Aires during the G20 summit, across from where the world’s leaders were meeting. The puppet whose nose grows when he lies works as a mirror — literally: the surface reflects whoever looks at it — of global corruption and fake news.
The project came after the award in Dubai and the artist’s connection with Jeff Koons, whose polished-steel technique he adopted. The piece moved from wood to polymers and finally to steel; it was fabricated in Germany and selected by the European Cultural Centre for the 2019 Venice Biennale.
