Description
The eagle carries symbolic weight across cultures: the bird of Zeus and an emblem of strength and immortality for the Greeks and Egyptians, and a sacred bird for the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Echegaray researched the piece in Patagonia and completed it in Alaska, connecting it to genetic studies on the shared origin of Indigenous American populations.
Eagle — Libertad, 2023, is a sculpture from the series Steel by Alberto Echegaray Guevara. It is made of steel. Edition of 8.
